Stephen Ministry

Description of Ministry
A one-on-one, confidential, caring Christian ministry by trained lay members of Concordia to people who are hurting because of issues such as divorce, death, illness, financial problems, loss of job, depression, loneliness, or any other crisis situation.

Purpose of Ministry
To offer extended emotional and spiritual support to another person in a time of need.

Skills
• Compassionate and trustworthy good listener
• Ability to maintain confidentiality
• Readiness of spirit to pray with the receiver and offer Christian support
• Availability to visit with the hurting person on a regular basis
• Completion of 50-hour Stephen Ministry training course

Involvement Time
Depends on care receiver's needs, but normally 1 hour per week.
